Revelation

March 4, 2008

Today was a revelation. I could jog(at a minimum pace) for about 20 minutes, did not expect such a day on day improvement when the maximum single jog was 3 minutes something. Maintained good running form no longer leaning and looking down and the foot strike was also reasonably good being between heel and mid foot when i noticed. The shin pain from yesterday did was unnoticeable. Could have continued to jog for another 3 laps minimum but wanted to take it easy since its early days and too much of a good thing can be bad.

Old DTB

March 3, 2008

So finally got the dust of old faithful DTB only to realize that she is out of shape and needs some TLC pronto. So dropped her off at the mecahnic who quickly sold me on the idea of a complete refitting for her which would mean my planned ride for tomorrow is a hoop dream. Anyway she’ll be back by tomorrow afternoon so things are looking up that front. Guess i’ll just have to get my run on for tomorrow. My ride

First run

March 3, 2008

Today was the first day. The socks were tight fitting, and had some intial discomfort in the ankles. Tried to adopt the couch to 5k program. So went 50-50 on the walk-jog split. Noticed that my jog was still a little noisy and was causing pain and burn in the shins. Wondering if there is something wrong with my running form. One thing that is definitely wrong is that im looking down at the path while running and walking which is not a good thing unless you are on a trail. Will consciously attempt to look straight ahead. Have no effective method to keep track of time or an effective player for listening to music. My phone pretty much sucks at it.

 Stats for the day

………starts with a good running shoe and hence, the purchase of the ridiculously overpriced indian edition of Adidas Adistart Control 5. It costs around 120$ to 130$ in the US but back here in the old country us desis gotta shell out 8000bucks a pop. Yet the great thing about this blatant consumerism is the warm feeling you get when you buy something this cool. So looks like i have to wake up early from tomorrow to actually use them. So ciao.
